I’m Arin. I build security tools and investigate the signals they surface.

I’m a UC Santa Cruz computer science graduate based in Fremont, California. I’m interested in the point where security operations, engineering, and clear technical communication meet.

How I got here.

My first security engineering experience came at CloudDefense.AI, where I worked on cloud-native security tooling, API integrations, testing, and customer demos. It taught me to think about both sides of a product: how the feature works and whether someone can understand and use it.

At Johnson & Johnson MedTech and Shockwave Medical, I moved closer to day-to-day security operations. I worked with SIEM alerts, CrowdStrike, Rapid7, phishing investigations, network and endpoint anomalies, and a risk inventory covering more than 300 operational technology systems.

Those experiences are why I keep coming back to detection and response. I like taking scattered technical evidence, working out what actually happened, and making the result clear enough for someone to act on.

What I’m working on now

SIGNALF0RGE · SECURITY+ · TECHNICAL WRITING

I’m continuing to build SignalF0rge, my Python detection and correlation engine, while studying for CompTIA Security+. I’ve also started writing about the reasoning behind my projects because explaining a system usually reveals where my own understanding needs work.

I’m looking for an early-career role in security operations, detection and response, vulnerability management, security engineering, or a technical customer-facing team. I’m open to relocating anywhere in the United States.
